2008 Featured Artist Janet Fogg
On Saturday, September 27, our Benefit Breakfast will feature a talk by award-winning local quilt artist Janet Fogg. The Breakfast will benefit The Clackamas County Women's Shelter. You'll have an opportunity to purchase tickets to this very popular event when you register for classes later this spring.
With a lifelong love of sewing and a career in art direction, Janet has immersed herself in the world of innovative quilt art. Her impressive and colorful quilts explore the many ways traditional quilt blocks can be used in innovative ways. She has made many award winning quilts and her success in the competitive quilt arena is paralleled with the satisfaction and reward of helping other quilters achieve their goals. Her quilts have been featured in Quilters Newsletter Magazine and American Quilter. Janet lives in Lake Oswego, Oregon.
Over the past several years Janet has developed a lecture mapping her journey through quilt making and a workshop titled Innovative Traditionals which explores creative thinking skills for quilt makers. Janet has taught workshops at quilt guilds and shops in the Pacific Northwest and nationally, including Empty Spools Seminars, Houston Quilt Festival, Colorado Quilting Council and Jean Wells’ The Stitchin’ Post. Each venue offers new opportunities for Janet to work with students as they come up with unique and surprising concepts for quilt designs.
Janet will be teaching a two-day workshop at Expo. This workshop is geared for all individuals whether they are beginning or advanced students of quilt making. Innovative Traditionals is not a technique class; it is an idea generation class. Janet's years spent as an art director, one who is required to be creative on demand have had a huge effect on the way she approaches making quilts. She will share the creative skills she has brought from her background as a graphic designer into the world of quilt art design. Class information
