Brenda HenningBrenda Henning

Brenda is a quilt maker, teacher, lecturer, designer, and owner of Bear Paw Productions. Her goal in life is to spread the quilting bug as far and wide as possible. She loves to teach, and feels strongly that the classroom experience should be fun as well as informative. Individual attention is the cornerstone of her teaching style.

Brenda lives in Anchorage, Alaska, with her husband, Richard, and their children, Beth, Christi and Joshua. Her two rottweilers, Kaia and Jade, share copious quantities of black dog hair with every quilt that leaves the premises. The addition of a cleaning lady to her life has greatly reduced the stifling effect of housework!

During Expo, Brenda will teach a Quilt-As-You-Go Stained Glass Table Runner class, a Mariner's Compass class and a Strip Therapy class using Bali Pops fabric from Hoffman. She will also present a Luncheon Lecture entitled "How did I get Here?" chronicling her progression as an accidental quilter.

Ann JohnstonAnn Johnston

First Ann learned to sew and then she learned to dye fabric. In between, she earned a degree in Literature at Stanford University, and a Masters in Geography at the University of Oregon. She taught new math in Lima, Peru, raised two sons in Oregon with her husband Jim, and started quilting. Ann’s years of experimentation with dye and fabric have led to piles of quilts, worldwide travel, numerous shows and exhibitions, five books, and not a few aches and pains. Her collectors respect her viewpoint and her students admire her generosity and skill in teaching what she knows.

Ann has written The Quilter’s Book of Design; Speaking in Cloth, 6 Quilters, 6 Voices;
Color by Design: Paint and Print with Dye; Color By Accident: Low Water Immersion Dyeing; and Dye Painting!. For information on all of Ann's books, visit her website.

Ann teaches workshops, lectures, and exhibits her fabric and quilts both nationally and internationally.  On the Tuesday and Wednesday right before Expo, Ann will be presenting a new 2-day workshop: Reverse Appliqué for Designs from Photos at The Best Western Inn at the Meadows. Lunch will be provided each day.

Maxine RosenthalMaxine Rosenthal

Maxine Rosenthal wrote computer software before most people understood what a computer was. Those early days were a creative time, as programmers developed everything new to meet the needs of the user. Using a symbolic language to create a final product is not much different from using kaleidoscopes to create a quilt. Stretching the boundaries has not changed much for Maxine. Playing with fabric, ideas and a friend have been the rewards. That Maxine's daughter, an interior designer, is proud to use her mother's quilts in her home makes Maxine feel that the process needs to be shared with others.

On Wednesday, September 22, Maxine will be teaching One Block Wonders: Hexagons or Octagons. This class includes lunch. On Thursday, September 23, she'll teach Cubes: Hollow and Otherwise. This class includes a ticket to Expo. Both of her classes will be taught in Hall E.

On Friday, Maxine will present a lunch and lecture called "How I Found My Quilting Career," a look back at her journey from computers to quilts.

Sheila Sinclair Snyder

Sheila Sinclair Snyder, of Eugene, Oregon, is veteran long arm teacher, author and designer. She presents a well-rounded variety of quilting skills to fit any style of quilt. Quilting is her profession as well as lifestyle and that can be seen in her professional presentations. Sheila is well known for her outstanding handouts that evolve each year with new ideas and interpretations. Freehand quilting is a specialty.

Don’t miss Sheila's popular long arm lectures and workshops! She will be teaching Basically Borders and Sashing; two sessions of her License To Quilt™ Workshop (Friday and Saturday); and two sessions of her Quilting Decisions Lecture (Friday and Saturday).

Pam Clarke

Quilting has been an important part of Pam's life for over 30 years along with, of course, the most important people in her life, her husband and three children.

She was born sometime in the 50's, which Pam says makes her about twenty-something. She has received accolades for her award winning quilts, and is a published artist, public speaker, and pretty good dancer. And she feels extremely lucky in marriage and family.

Pam will be giving several lectures and teaching several workshops at Expo, including two on the Wednesday before Expo begins. They are her Fearless Beginnings to Free-Motion Quilting Workshop and her Quilting Inside the Lines Workshop. Each class is four hours long and takes place in Building A at The Expo Center. Pam's other classes can be found on the daily schedules.

Sherry Rogers-Harrison

Ink-Liqué is the process Sherry used on her quilt Tribal Fusion and Lollapalooza. The quilt has won several ribbons and awards in national quilting shows. It placed in the top ten at Paducah and won Viewers Choice. If you can trace, quilt and you like to color, then you're going to love Sherry's Introduction to Ink-Liqué Workshop! She is teaching it twice: on Thursday and on Friday.

Sherry is also teaching her Formal Feathers 101 Workshop. All of Sherry's classes are being taught at The Expo Center.
