Machine Quilting

How many times have you heard that a quilt is not a quilt until it’s quilted? Here’s your chance to learn to quickly finish your quilt tops. The techniques you learn can turn your tops into heirlooms.

Please bring: sewing machine—bring all attachments plus machine manual, extension cord and plug strip.

Check your accessory box carefully before class

Size 75/11 quilting needles, washable fabric marker

Size 1 safety pins (1" long, ‘bent’ pins work best).

any spool of 100% cotton, colored thread.

Masking tape (approx. 3/4" wide).

Basic sewing supplies: scissors, pins, seam ripper

Six 14–16" squares muslin

Three 14–16" squares batting in any combination of the following: 100% cotton, Cotton Classic, Warm and Natural or low loft polyester

Optional, but nice: mono-filament thread, machine embroidery thread in any color, lamp or chair cushion, if you need them.

As an active promoter of every facet of the quilting world, Melody co-founded QuiltFest, and has judged and curated regional and national exhibitions. Melody brings her natural teaching ability and contagious enthusiasm to quilters across the country. Her popular lectures and workshops are always well received.
