Machine Crazy



Create a block by machine while learning the technique of crazy quilting. Melody will steer you through the sea of threads available to today’s crazy quilters and machine sewers. Learn easy ways to make a bow, how to create texture with ribbons and lace, all by machine!

Please bring: sewing machine (bring machine manual and all attachments including extension table).

regular foot and embroidery foot (open toe, if you have one)

extra bobbins, 2 or 3

machine needles: Embroidery 75/11 & 90/14, Metafil/Metallic 80/12, Top Stitch 100/16

fabric scissors with sharp point, pins

marking pencil—a color you can see and is easy to remove

large eyed hand needle (for hiding the ends of the thread)

rotary cutter, ruler and mat

threads- and embellishments—see Melody’s supply list on our website for thread suggestions

medium weight stabilizer—2 pieces 13" square

fabrics: For one 12" block bring 15 to 25 4" x 10" strips in a variety of colors or just one, and in a variety of textures. Remember that your stitches show better on plainer fabrics.
